Rugby Mugello discovers the secret of espresso

février 11, 2015 in International

It seems easy to make good coffee. Older people remember that even local advertisements, in their day, underlined such certainty and now also the younger athletes from the Rugby Mugello youth team can experience good coffee, by paying a visit to La Marzocco’s headquarters in the heart of the Mugello district of Tuscany.

The company, founded in the late 1920s by an intuition of the Bambi family, is today a world leader in the design and manufacture of professional espresso machines.

The visit provided the young athletes with an opportunity to closely observe aspects of everyday life within an artisanal, manufacturer and, by following the phases of production from one stage to the next, to understand the factors that lead to success (quality) in producing excellence worldwide.

What satisfaction then, at the end of the tour, to be able to prepare coffee with one’s own hands, under the professional guidance of an experienced trainer.  Here the “Mugello” boys learned the alchemy of making good coffee: from grams and grinding, to water temperature, pressure and time of extraction for this precious elixir.
They also learned what the “tricks of the profession” are, and to recognize them when one day in the future they will walk into a bar and simply ask for “a coffee …”.

The Mugello Rugby team thanks the entire La Marzocco staff, and especially Silvia and Filippo, who accompanied the group with skilled attention and care.

A special thanks also goes to Piero Bambi who “planned” this initiative with the Mugello Rugby team – but most importantly, helped create the excellence that represents an everlasting incentive and an example of opportunity for the “men of the future”, whether they play rugby not.
